TWTWB movie

In the lead up to the release of “Tomorrow When the War Began” in theaters, Paramount Pictures and Omnilab Media turned to social media to engage with fans of the Tomorrow Series by John Marsden. The objective was to convert an existing fan base into movie ambassadors and leverage social media to build community interest and kick-start ticket sales.

Since 2009 we have worked closely with the films producers and distributors, providing video production and editing services alongside engagement planning and execution. This project was undertaken in partnership with Boughen Pix, Omnilab Media, Paramount Pictures Australia, Paramount Home Entertainment and MEC Global.

Beginning in September 2009 our team captured and edited more than 60 hours of behind the scenes video content for EPK, online and DVD release. Content included cast and crew interviews, John Marsden passage readings and behind the scenes exclusives. Once delivered we worked closely with Paramount Pictures Australia, devising and executing the projects theatrical, DVD and Digital Download social media campaigns. Thanks to our strategic planning the Official TWTWB Facebook page now has over 129,000* “likes” and 900* Twitter followers (figures as of 17th February 2012).

The Official TWTWB Facebook page has the largest fan base of any Australian film to date. In 2010 the website and social media campaign were nominated for an AIMIA Award: Best Entertainment Category.

Result Snapshot

In 2010 we designed and executed a socially driven DVD and Digital Download release strategy for Paramount Home Entertainment. This strategy resulted in the biggest first week sales for an Australian independently produced and financed film. Currently we are providing Omnilab Media with ongoing Community Management services.
